Struggles!

What are your hair struggles? Do you know what they are? Are you paying attention to what your hair may be asking for? I talk about the struggles that we can have with our hair with my clients a lot. I want to help you figure out what your hair may need.

Some of what I hear from first-time clients are concerns about abnormal shedding, dryness, and breakage.

Let’s talk a bit about shedding! Shedding can be related to mineral deficiencies from poor diet or medications that block the absorption of nutrition. Shedding can also happen during the change of seasons, which is called “seasonal shedding”. Stress can also play a huge part in hair loss due to shedding. Another thing that is often overlooked is clogged hair follicles due to product build-up and overproduction of sebum.

Is it safe to say that we’ve all experienced dryness at some time or another? This could be due to over-processing hair, dehydration, and poor nutrient absorption from poor gut health. One of the services that I’ve grown to love for myself and my clients is a good scalp and hair detox done with clays and dead sea mud followed by a clarifying shampoo. Believe me ya’ll this does miracles for the health of your scalp and how well moisture will absorb into your hair shaft.

Being able to keep your hair moist and hydrated stops the breakage!

I just mentioned the best way to prevent breakage. Another thing to keep in mind is when using heat always use a heat protector and the lowest heat setting possible to achieve your results. Not using heat as a regular way of styling can always help so in other words give your hair a break from heat! Last but not least I have to mention the one big issue that I constantly see which is…. the weight and tension placed on already fragile hair with methods like hair weaving and braiding. These are areas to give your hair a rest in!

If you have hair and scalp struggles feel free to set up a consultation with me so that we can determine the best regimen for you!
